IV THE BIRDS

AVAILABLE NOW AT

Meet the Birds

From Papakōlea, Oʻahu to Anahola, Kauaʻi our father Alroy called these special places - home! When he passed, his spirit departed. With him flew the birds from their respective areas. Dadʻs oli laments that “the kōlea bird of Papakōlea has left, the pheasant bird of ʻEleʻele has left, the ʻanianiau bird of the Anahola upland has left, the noio bird of the sea cliffs has flown out to sea - the sea of Kanaloa, on its path of no return. Yet, we remain hopeful because the majestic ʻiwa bird of the Koʻolau district is seen soaring in the heights of heaven carefully watching from up above - during the day, during the night, and throughout the seasons of each year. The ʻiwa bird will protect our family from harm.”

Let us introduce Cocoa - dadʻs favorite warm beverage; Pinky - his love of that named drink; Iso Peanut - his favorite TV-watching treat; Apricot - the best tasting danish; and Nutsey - the only snack to eat when cruising in cars.

Under the Red Aliʻi-like Rainbow

Red Rainbows

RED RAINBOWS? Do they exist?

I am certain of it since a few friends have told me that they have seen one before. As for myself, NOT YET. Let me tell you why red rainbows are so important to my family. First of all, however, red rainbows are known as monochromatic rainbows. It is rare. A red rainbow appears during a sunrise or a sunset. It occurs when the sun itself is very low on the horizon causing shorter wavelength colors to scatter, leaving longer wavelengths of red light to prevail - known as the Rayleigh scattering. Interesting, huh?!

To our family, a red “aliʻi-like” rainbow is representative of our fatherʻs spirit. We believe that when he took his last breath (his forever sunset sort of speak), his spirit ascended like a red aliʻi-like rainbow; stretching beyond the heavens where he now rests to watch over us. With this concept in mind, we launched a small family-owned business. Everything being sold here was designed and created by our own hands and with our whole heart as we honor our father.

Thank you for joining us on this journey and we hope you enjoy our designs. Feel free to peruse and reach out should you have any questions. Mahalo!
